In the late 1940s, the Esposito brothers Giuseppe, Giovanni and Tonino bought an orchard once used for olive milling on Via Vittorio Emanuele III and built the hotel which, at the wish of their father Raffaele, they called Gatto Bianco. Since 1952, the year of its inauguration, a white cat has always lived in the hotel, up to today's Persian cat, Mirò.
The brothers' memories kept alive the years of Capri's dolce vita and the famous guests who came to the hotel and restaurant. Among many names, the family likes to remember King Edward VIII of the United Kingdom, Sophia Loren, star of "It Started in Naples", and Jackie Kennedy with Onassis. In the nightclub below, Giuseppe Faiella, known as Peppino di Capri, took his first steps.
